“Stop following me,” he said sternly. “I'm sure you have better things to do than make fun of my name.”

“Oh yeah,” I replied like a child. “First, I'm not following you. I'm walking toward my gate. Second, don't stand there acting like you're perfect when all you do is judge people. You're no better than I am. You put those damn pants on one leg at a time just like I did this morning.”

“I don't judge people,” he said roughly. “I never said I was better than you, but now that you mention it, I am.”

“Yes you do judge people,” I snapped at him, as the people moved quickly by us while we stood in the middle of the walkway. “Last night, you made multiple comments judging me. You did the same damn thing today.”

“Whatever,” he said, as he turned and walked away again.

When he got to his gate, he flopped down in a seat and let his head fall back with his eyes closed. I stopped at his feet and looked down at him.

“You're not better than me,” I said. “Have a nice flight, Loser.”

He didn't open his eyes or respond at all. I turned, stormed over to my gate, fell into a chair, and closed my eyes. I couldn't wait to get home and as far away from him as possible.

I heard them boarding his flight over the speaker. Then he was gone. I still had an hour until my flight left. As much as I couldn't stand him, he was all I could think about. I'd woken up so late for the meeting that I hadn't even had time to shower. I could still smell his scent on my skin. He was definitely all man mixed with a forest scent. The harder I tried to get him out of my mind, the more I thought about the night before.

It was only my second flight. I was so damn scared, but I'd also never been so excited to get away from someplace as much as I was right then. All I had to do was get home. Then everything would go back to normal.

  Chapter 5

  Lance

She was pissing me off worse than anyone ever had in my life. I couldn't believe her. It had never been so hard to control my temper before. I honestly wasn't sure I was going to make it on that plane before bending her over and spanking her ass in the middle of the busy airport. She definitely needed it. Having my hand on her ass was something I'd thought about through those two hours during the night that I tried to get some sleep. Her mouth was something else. I couldn't believe her sass. She had the fucking nerve to make fun of my name. There was not a damn thing wrong with it. She was just trying to piss me off, and it was working.

I'd never been so happy to get on a plane. All I wanted was to get home to my family. It was my normal. It was somewhere I felt comfortable. I wanted to be in my room working so damn hard to show her that I was the one that was going to impress the hell out of those guys. She didn't have shit on me. Just thinking about it had my blood boiling. Who did she think she was, I wondered?

I put my earbuds in, leaned my head back, and closed my eyes. The moment I started to relax, she popped into my head, but it wasn't the irritating woman from the meeting. It was the sexy, sweet tasting woman from the night before. Her dark hair fanned out on the bed as I hovered over her. It felt so damn good being inside of her. My dick twitched at the thought, and I quickly opened my eyes and sat up. My hand immediately ran through my hair. What the fuck was wrong with me, I wondered? She was a total pain in the ass. Damn, that ass was so sexy. Ugh!

No matter how hard I tried to push her from my mind, I couldn't. Was she right, I asked myself? Was I really that judgmental? I didn't think so, but she'd pointed it out. Maybe I was a bit. I had said she didn't seem like a beer girl. I'd also said she didn't look like a nerd. Then I'd made a big deal out of her being a woman. That wasn't supposed to come out though. I'd just been thinking about the punk messing with me for years as a guy. I couldn't believe the whole time it had been a girl. Not that anything was wrong with that. I was just surprised. She definitely had guts to go off on me in front of a room full of guys we were both trying to impress. I had to give her that. She definitely didn't pussy out. That was the sweetest pussy I'd ever tasted, I thought. I felt my dick twitch again and knew I had to get my head in the game. If I wasn't careful, she was going to wipe the floors with me. There was no way I could let that happen. I would never hear the end of it.

I stepped off that plane and hurried to get my bags. Being home was going to be better than ever. When I looked up and saw Sammie waiting for me with Jilly, I ran for them, dropped my laptop, and pulled that little girl into my arms. The way I carried on, you'd have thought I'd been gone for months or even years. It had only been two days, but it sure didn't feel like it.

“I've missed you, Little Jilly,” I said, as I kissed her cheek.

  “Lancie,” she squealed.

My head snapped to the side, and my eyes connected with Sammie's. She had her lips pulled tight, and I could see her chest shaking.

“Lance,” I corrected my adorable little niece. She was lucky she's so darn cute.

  “Lancie,” she said again.

My sister's hand moved up to cover her mouth and I narrowed my eyes at her.

“This is not funny,” I said. “I've waited for the day you would stop calling me that. This cannot happen.”

Sammie grabbed her daughter from me when the baggage belt began to move.

“We'll wait in the car for you,” Sammie said just before taking off.

“We're not done,” I yelled out after her.

Once I had my bag, I hurried out to her car, threw my bags in her trunk, and got in. She took off before I even had a chance to put my seat belt on all the way.

“You in a hurry?” I asked.

“Mom is making dinner. I told her I'd get you there in time,” she answered. “How was it? Did you finally meet the little punk?”

“I met him alright,” I said roughly.

“It went that well,” she said. “You don't have to work with him directly though. You only communicate with them, right? He's just competition.”

  “Her,” I said.

  “What?” she asked.

“Lancie,” Jilly called out from the back seat.

I shook my head and turned to look at my niece.

“I missed you so much,” I said. “You want to hang out in my room later?”

Her face lit up with a big smile. I was so happy to be home.

  “We'll watch your favorite show.”

When we pulled up at the house, I couldn't wait to get inside. I got out of the car and leaned in the back to get Jillian out. Then I slung both of my bags over my other shoulder and headed for the house.

“Grandma keeps talking about how proud she is of you,” Sammie said, as she closed her trunk and followed us. “She called me again last night to talk about it.”

I thought about my family and how lucky I was to have what I did. I was so thankful for my mom and dad and their decision to adopt. Not a day went by that I didn't think about how great my life was.

“You okay?” Sammie asked when I stopped at the front door. “Get inside.”

  “Lancie,” Jilly said.

“We need to do something about that,” I said to Sammie before walking by her and into the house.

“I think it's sweet,” she said.

“What's sweet?” James asked, as he walked up and Jilly jumped from my arms to get to him.

  “Your daughter,” Lance said.

“What issue do you have with my daughter?” James asked.

“Lancie,” Jilly said again, and James' eyes grew large.

“That is not my fault,” he said. “Talk to your sister about that.”

My dad came around the corner and pulled me into a hug. Lauren popped into my head again. I couldn't help but wonder what she would have said if she knew I was named after my dad and not some famous ballplayer. Lauren, I thought. That was her name. She was the woman I wanted beneath me again. She was also the enemy. I shook my head and hugged my dad back.

“Get that boy in here. I don't want his food to get cold,” my mom shouted from the kitchen.
<
br />   “Don't get your panties twisted, Firecracker. Let me hug my boy,” my dad shouted back.

I could hear my mom mumbling something about being bossy, and I couldn't stop the laugh that escaped me. My parents were crazy, but I wouldn't have had it any other way.

“We better eat,” my dad whispered. “Wouldn't want your mom upset. You know how she is.”

We both burst into laughter and headed for the table.

“What are you two laughing about?” my mom asked, as she came out with a dish in each hand and set them on the table.

“Not a thing, baby,” my dad said with a smile on his face.

She narrowed her eyes at him, and I knew he was in for it.

“Don't give me that nothing shit, Hotshot,” she said. “I'll kick your ass and you know it. You're not as tough as you used to be.”

“You'll do no such thing,” he said with a laugh. “After the kids leave and the last one goes to bed, I'll show you how tough I am.”

“Not tonight you won't,” she snapped at him.

“We'll see about that,” he said, as he walked over and wrapped his arms around her. “My hand is going to.”

“Enough,” Sammie interrupted loudly. “Stop right there.”

“What?” my dad asked. “I touch your mom. That's how you got here.”

“We don't need to hear about it,” Sammie said.

“Now you know how I feel when you're crawling all over James,” my dad said.

“I can't believe you're even complaining,” I told Sammie. “You're not here to hear it anymore. Some days I feel like I didn't miss out on living in a college dorm with these two around.”

“We are not like that,” my mom said with her cheeks turning pink.

“You're so cute,” Sammie told her. “Look at you trying to act all innocent.”

My dad spun my mom around to face him and kissed her. It was no small parental kiss either. My dad didn't do anything small. He was an all in kind of guy. It didn't matter which direction he was leaning, he was in it completely.

“We do not want to think about our parents doing it,” Sammie said.

“I don't want to think about my daughter doing it either,” my dad replied.

“Can we just eat?” I asked. “I'm starving.”

My mom pulled away from my dad, but he smacked her rear hard when she walked away.

As soon as dinner was over, I snatched Jilly up and took off for my room.

“We have a movie to watch,” I called out over my shoulder.

When I walked into my room, I put Jillian down on my bed, turned the television on, and quickly grabbed my laptop out of the bag to set it up, but I didn't turn it on. I was going to enjoy the night with my niece. First thing in the morning I'd jump into my work.

Jilly was asleep before the movie was half over, so I carried her down the stairs. James jumped up from the couch and took her from me. He really was a great dad. I knew I would be too when I eventually took the plunge and started a family. Sammie stood up and grabbed the baby's stuff. When my mom moved to get off of my dad's lap, he pulled her closer.

I walked James, Sammie, and Jilly out before heading back up to my room. There was no way I was going to sit in the living room with my parents hanging all over each other like two high school kids. That was not happening.

I walked into my room and couldn't fight the urge to turn my laptop on. It was always on. I knew I was going to rest for the night and get to work in the morning, but I had to at least turn it on. As soon as it was on, I felt better. Then I fell back onto my bed fully clothed and closed my eyes. Just as I got comfortable and began to fall asleep, I heard the ding. It can wait, I told myself. A minute or so later, I heard the ding again.

“Who is that?” I said, as I pushed myself up from the bed and walked to my desk.

What if it was one of the guys from the meeting? I definitely needed to check it. I didn't want them thinking I hadn't jumped right into my work. They needed to know I was serious.

When I pulled my laptop screen up and the message covered my screen, I let out a growl from deep in my chest.

  Eagle: Good luck loser.

Didn't she have anything better to do than fuck with me, I wondered? She could have been putting her time to much better use. The same could have been said about me too though. I was relaxing when I should have been working. Her message was a great reminder of that. When I changed her name to Lauren and cleared the screen, I saw the next message box appear.

  Lauren: Are you done yet?

What the hell did that mean, I wondered? Was she serious? Had she already made progress? There was no way. It couldn't be. She was just screwing with me. That had to be it. I shut off the sound and closed the laptop. There was no way I was going let her mess it up for me. I couldn't let her get under my skin. I'd ignore her. If I did, she'd go away.

I fell back onto my bed and stared up at my ceiling. When I closed my eyes, she was there. It wasn't the snotty, irritating woman I'd met earlier that day. It was her from the night before. I don't know what came over me when it came to Lauren. I'd never wanted more than just a quick one-and-done with any of the girls I'd been with before. The whole time we were together, I kept thinking of all of the things I wanted to do with her. That wasn't who I was. I never wanted a repeat performance.

No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't fall asleep. She consumed my every thought. Was she up working on the project? Had she fallen into bed with some random guy like she had with me? Who was she? What was she really like? I'd already seen two sides of her. How many were there? Before long, a flash of her against the door with one of my hands on each side of her head popped into my head. It was so real. I felt like she was right there. The way she looked when our lips were so close was so damn sexy. She wanted that kiss as much as I did, but I made her make the move to close that tiny gap between us. My dick was twitching just thinking about being on my knees with my face buried between her legs. A shower, I thought to myself. I needed a hot shower. That would take away the tension. I needed to relax. I needed sleep. I needed to be fresh and ready to work in the morning.

I jumped up from my bed and stripped off my clothes on the way to my bathroom. Closing the door behind me, I walked over and turned the water as hot as I could. Then I stepped into the shower and let the water beat down on my skin. My hands went against the wall, and my head fell forward. The water slid from the top of my head down my back. It felt so damn good. I was home.

I let my eyes close, and a vision of her naked on that bed with her hair fanning out around her came into my mind. She was fucking beautiful. It didn't take long before my dick was rock hard. I needed a release. It would take my stress away, I thought. Taking one hand off the wall, I reached down and took my cock in my hand. My fingers ran over the drops that had already dripped from the head. I spread it around before wrapping my hand tightly around my shaft and stroking from my base to my tip. I could see it as if she was there with me. The one thing I knew I wanted was her on her knees, sucking me hard and deep. I'd happily fill that smart mouth of hers. My grip tightened on my shaft when I thought about her tongue circling my tip. Then her lips would open around me and take me in deep. She wouldn't stop until I tapped the back of her throat. It would feel so good. I could see my hand wrapping around her hair and guiding her up and down my cock. Her cheeks would hollow when she sucked me hard. I could see her bobbing up and down on me while I fucked her mouth. My hand began moving faster up and down my shaft. I pictured my other hand on the back of her head. She'd reach up and grab the backs of my thighs so she could take me even deeper. Thinking about her on her knees, with me filling her mouth, had me ready to blow. I held tight to my shaft and stroked it faster. Then I let out a loud growl as I came hard, while thinking about filling her mouth with cum. Shot after shot flew from my cock. Her mouth was all I could think about. When I lifted my hand from the wall and stood tall under the shower, I realized that I was even more wound up than I'd been before I'd step
ped under the water.

I walked back into my room with nothing but a towel wrapped around my waist and fell back onto my bed. The next thing I knew, I heard my bedroom door opening and jumped to grab a sheet and cover myself. The sun was shining through my window, and I hadn't even remembered closing my eyes.

“Think you could knock?” I snapped the second I saw my sister walk into the room.

“Really?” she asked. “About time you learned what it means to knock. Convenient that it didn't happen until you were the one being invaded.”

“What?” I snapped again. “Are you sure you don't live here?”

“Who has you all pissed off?” she asked, as she sat down on the edge of my bed.

“Nobody,” I said. “I was sleeping.”

“Sleeping,” she said. “That doesn't sound like you. You're the one that's always up working hard by this time. What's going on with you? Did the flights and meetings mess with your time?”

  “No,” I said. “I couldn't fall asleep.”

  “Who is her?” she asked.

  “What?” I asked confused.

“When we were in the car on the way home, I asked if you'd met him. You said her. Then Jilly called you Lancie and the subject changed. What did you mean by her?”

“Just forget it,” I said, as I pulled my pillow over my head.

“No,” she said, as she snatched the pillow away so I was forced to face her.

“My competition for the job is a girl,” I said.

“That doesn't make sense, Lancie,” she said. “You said it was the same guy that had been messing with you for years, the one you told me about at the wedding. He was supposed to be the one going for the job. Was it someone else?”

“No,” I said. “That's exactly who it was, but it wasn't a guy.”

“So the person that's been screwing with you all this time is a girl?” she asked with a smile on her face.

“It's not funny,” I said in a rough tone.

“You've been going crazy over it. How did you not know it was a girl?” she asked.

“Her name was Eagle. The way she talked shit all the time had me thinking she was a guy. I had no idea.”
